There will also be a challenge for all to help Clean up Guilford and fill dump trucks! We encourage individuals, neighborhoods and organizations to get together and clean up a street or park. A Guilford map will be displayed indicating areas that have been cleaned. If you are planning an area to clean up with your group or organization, please contact Connor Negri, Program Coordinator, at
negric@ci.guilford.ct.us
Returning this year will be our Shredding Event. The Shredding Source is going to be on site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m for the second year in a row. Time to get rid of all those confidential papers you don’t know what to do with! The shredding is free; however, donations will be accepted.
This year we have added a Touch a Truck portion to our event having local businesses contributing vehicles. Touch a Truck helps children connect these vehicles to possible careers in construction, manufacturing, emergency response, sanitation, and many others. Children and their families will have the opportunity to touch, sit-in and explore real vehicles from a number of different industries. This year we have been lucky enough to work with our local Fire, Police, and Public Works Departments donating their time and vehicles to help educate our community. Other vehicles include a 29ft Rescue Boat from the Coast Guard, a Tow Truck from Timmy the Tow, a 18 Wheeler Sleeper & Day Cab from S.C. Ballard, LLC. Not to mention CT Air National Guard 103 bringing out a wrecker and an Oshkosh five ton truck, and barring a conflict, a helicopter from Yale New Haven Health. The Touch-a-Truck is a fun way to help educate the community on how to interact with the vehicles safely.
